In partnership from the IndoArtNow and SAM Fund for Arts and Ecology, Delfina Foundation is offering a three-month residency to a curator with Indonesian citizenship living and working in Indonesia. The residency period is 11 January to 8 April 2016 and will begin during DFs winter period focused on curatorial research.
Delfina Foundation (DF) is an independent, non-profit organisation dedicated to fostering artistic talent and facilitating exchange through residencies and public programmes ranging from workshops to exhibitions, both in the UK and with international partners.
ABOUT INDOARTNOW
IndoArtNow is a non-profit organization that strives to promote and support Indonesian contemporary art. IndoArtNow helps raise fund for potential projects, initiate project and connect Indonesian contemporary art to a wider audience through its online platform www.indoartnow.com. IndoArtNow engage in activities and aims to provide support for the infrastructure of Indonesian contemporary art, by featuring exhibited artworks and publications by artists, curators, gallerists, collectors and journalists.
ABOUT SAM FUND FOR ARTS AND ECOLOGY
SAM Fund for Arts and Ecology was co-founded in 2014 by Natasha Sidharta and Rujak Centre for Urban Studies to support developments of arts that work on ecological issues.
During the residency, DF will develop a loosely structured series of events and activities enabling residents to:
- Research and develop areas of interest
- Develop skills via training and mentoring
- Access information and resources through independent study, field trips and workshops
- Participate in both internal and external/public events
This opportunity is open to both emerging and established curators.
THE SELECTED CURATOR WILL RECEIVE:
- · A twelve-week residency in London, including one return, economy-class flight, and a living allowance for food/per diems and materials;
- · A single bedroom at DF with shared facilities, such as the laundry room, kitchen, and dining room;
- · Opportunities to engage in the art scene in UK through structured and independent time and activities; and
- · Access to a programme of planned group activities and visits to cultural organisations in the UK.
REQUIREMENTS:
- · An Indonesian citizen, currently living and working in Indonesia;
- · Seeking an opportunity to develop your practice and the concepts of your curatorial work;
- · Able to explain how the experience of an international residency may benefit your career development and local networks; and
- · Proficient in English.
It is desirable that the applicant has an undergraduate qualification in a relevant discipline.

Established by arts philanthropist Delfina Entrecanales CBE, DF is the successor to Delfina Studio Trust. From 1988 to 2006, Delfina Studio held an unprecedented record for supporting artists through residencies and exhibitions, including more than a dozen Turner Prize nominees such as Mark Wallinger, Jane & Louise Wilson, Tacita Dean, Martin Creed and Glenn Brown as well as renowned artists such as Chantal Joffe, Michael Raedecker, Hangue Yang, Esra Ersen, Wim Delvoye and Khalil Rabah. DF is proud to build on this history.
Our work is followed by key arts professionals and our audiences include arts patrons, curators, major art collectors and the general public.
