Majalah Fikrun wa Fann didirikan oleh almarhumah Anne-Marie Shimmel, seorang ahli teologi Islam yang pada umur 24 tahun sudah menjadi profesor bidang kajian Islam di Harvard. Kini majalah tersebut diterbitkan oleh Goethe Institut.
